hello, i just got an IPOD touch and i have not been able to connect to my NETGEAR router.
I am doing what everyone is saying to do. i am typing in the WEP key i am resetting my router and modem and i am also resetting my IPOD.
I am also trying to type the WEP key with caps on and off. nothing it working out for me.
is there a setting in my router that i need to change?
I am connecting to my desktop and laptop just fine.
hopefully someone can help me out.
i would great appreciate it.

Hi, I can not get the space bar or the numbers to work. Tapping on these does nothing.  Double tapping does nothing.  Thank you very much, Dennis

Do you have MAC filtering set to "ON"? That will prevent you to get connected as well.

Don't know if this has anything to do with wireless, but anyways' I think your ipod touch is faulty.

Or have you try cleaning the screen ? Smiley

Tried rebooting?
Checked that your setting are correct? (apple forums are good for this sort of stuff)

This thread may help too

As with many of the subscribers on this blog, I have been having trouble getting on-line via my iTouch wi-fi... I'm attemtping to use networks which are open to the public - my university, Bridgehead coffee shop, etc....- and have not been able to connect. The settings tell me I am connected, but the Safari browser tells me that 'it can't find server'... ip address is ok, subnet mask is ok... these are netwroks that either don't require a password, or if they do, i have it and have entered it below in the HTTP Proxy section, under auto... very frustrating considering this is why I bought this... Apple sight has no direction, can anyone help?

I hear ya. I'm having the exact same problems with public wifi, even at places where I've used my Touch before (Buffalo Wild Wings for one). I plan on using my Touch for fantasy football in the fall while at a bar, and now it won't pick up and connect to public wifis!

Its odd how this is so common that its seems like a defect with the iPod. I wonder if it is, mine is working fine never had a problem with it. I'm going to buy an iPhone to test its wifi so I can compare it to the touch. I'm best at physical support so I can't really diagnoise a problem that well but I will atempt to try and fix this. Hope your wifi gets fixed!

This is probably the easiest fix

FIRST I RECOMMEND TESTING YOU WIFI ON A PUBLIC ONE (Cafe, lounge, club, they usually have them) THIS WILL ELIMINATE YOU IPOD AS BEING DEFECTIVE. IF IT WORKS, FOLLOW STEPS BELOW, IF NOT, SEE APPLE STORE

reset ipod (hold down home and sleep/wake until you see apple logo)

then reset your router (hit the button on the back of the physical router that says RESET)

go to settings and try to connect

if this fails connect ipod to computer

restore defaults or if you haven't already, download ALL the updates and patches for the ipod so that you have 2.1 (look around here and you will find free downloads for them)

if you already have 2.1, restore defaults and try to connect again, if it doesn't work still, make sure your router is configured and that it is set to allow other devices to use it

IF ALL FAILS go to apple store and get another one from warranty (PLEASE do no bring them a jail broken ipod, because then you will not get your ipod back, nor get a new one without paying the full price)
then brind new one home and test, if it fails, YET AGAIN, its the router and you should trouble shoot that OR try using the wifi on another device

hope this helps guys!
and btw, i haven't been on in a while, but ill be on more so your replies will be answer very quickly

I did make a post in another section, I can not seem to find out what is going on with my I Pod.  I will assume that since you worked for a cable connection company, you will not be able to help my issue, but if anyone has ever ran into this, they are more than welcome to let me know if they had a solution.  Here is my issue.  The reason I can not get online is because my ipod will not let me access the wifi section to turn it on.  It will not hi lite, just stays gray, and when you touch the screen, nothing happens.  You can do everything else with it!  Pictures, movies, songs, connects with everything but cant get to the wifi end of it.  Can someone let me know if they even heard of this before.  Thanks in advance.
